Belgrade, 31st March – President of the AP Vojvodina Assembly, Bálint Juhász, met today in Belgrade with Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Ana Brnabić, to discuss enhancing institutional cooperation between the national and provincial parliaments, as well as strengthening political dialogue within institutions.
The interlocutors agreed that continuous communication between parliaments was of key importance for stability and the efficient functioning of institutions, having emphasized that parliaments remained the central venue for dialogue and the articulation of diverse views.
President of the AP Vojvodina Assembly, Bálint Juhász, stressed that returning dialogue to institutions was of essential importance for society and highlighted that cooperation between the parliaments would be further enhanced.
“Amid ongoing social and political challenges, the best response is to strengthen the functioning of institutions and conduct dialogue within parliaments. Therefore, we have agreed to further improve cooperation and organise a joint conference that would bring together all levels of government and open a space for constructive dialogue,” Mr Juhász stated.
At the initiative of President Juhász, it was agreed at the meeting to organise a joint conference of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia and the Assembly of AP Vojvodina. The conference will be dedicated to improving parliamentary cooperation, exchanging experiences, and strengthening dialogue with citizens, with the active involvement of local assemblies of cities and municipalities.
Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Ana Brnabić, pointed to the importance of improving communication with citizens through the use of modern technologies.
“It is particularly important to leverage modern technologies to enhance direct communication with citizens, better understand their priorities, and more effectively convey their views into institutions and the decision-making process, which will also be discussed at the joint conference of the two parliaments,” Ms Brnabić stated.
President Juhász and Speaker Brnabić agreed to continue intensive cooperation in the coming period, with the aim of further strengthening institutions and improving the quality of life of our citizens.
During his visit to the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, President Juhász also held talks with Vice President of the National Assembly, Elvira Kovács, to discuss continued cooperation and joint activities between the two parliaments.
