27. 05. 2026.Juhász: Supporting Young People in Building Education and Careers in Their Home Communities

Novi Sad, 27 May – The President of the Assembly of AP Vojvodina, Bálint Juhász PhD, welcomed today the secondary school students of Hungarian nationality from Vojvodina at the Rectorate of the University of Novi Sad. As part of a programme organised by the Hungarian National Council, the students visited faculties of the University of Novi Sad and learned about opportunities for continuing their education within their local communities.

Juhász stressed the importance of allowing young people to gain first-hand insight into the opportunities available to them in Vojvodina and to recognise that quality education and successful careers could also be built locally.

“Nowadays, the University of Novi Sad stands as one of the most significant educational and scientific centres in the region, with nearly 50,000 students, 14 faculties and hundreds of study programmes. It is important for young people to know that here, as well as in Subotica, Sombor and Zrenjanin, they have the opportunity to acquire knowledge, advance professionally and plan their future,” Juhász said.

Speaking about scholarship programmes and student support services, he underlined the particular importance of the growing number of young people who choose to pursue their education and careers within their home communities, emphasising that knowledge, community and a sense of belonging mutually reinforce and strengthen one another.

The students were also addressed by Tatjana Varju Potrebić, member of the Executive Board of the Hungarian National Council and prof. Dejan Madić, PhD, Rector of the University of Novi Sad. The event was also attended by the Provincial Secretary for Education, Regulations, Administration and National Minorities – National Communities, Róbert Ótott .

After welcoming the secondary school students, the Rector,  prof. Dejan Madić PhD highlighted the great importance of this programme, noting that studying is not merely a path towards obtaining a degree, but also an opportunity to build community, shape the future and society in our country.

During the visit, the students toured the faculties of the University of Novi Sad and the “Europa” Student Dormitory, which provides accommodation and support to students of Hungarian nationality from Vojvodina.
