Novi Sad, 27 May - The President of the Assembly of AP Vojvodina, Bálint Juhász PhD, met today with the President of the National Council of the Macedonian National Minority Zorica Mitrović, and the Director of the Macedonian Information and Publishing Centre Ozren Simjanovski to discuss the position of the Macedonian community in Vojvodina as well as the further support to the work of their institutions.
President Juhász emphasised that the Macedonian national community represents an important part of the multi-ethnic identity of AP Vojvodina and that through its institutions, culture and social engagement, it contributes to the cultural richness of our province.
“Support to national communities in Vojvodina is not a formality, but a matter of continuity and a clear strategic commitment of provincial institutions, as reflected in the funds allocated for the work of the National Council of the Macedonian National Minority, associations and the Macedonian Information and Publishing Centre”, said Juhász adding that 21.7 million RSD have been allocated from the provincial budget over the past six years for the work of the national council, while 5.1 million RSD had been awarded to Macedonian associations through various public calls of provincial secretariats.
Juhász also particularly highlighted the contribution of the Macedonian community in Serbia to the advancement of relations between the two countries, assessing that good interstate relations are further strengthened through cooperation among the people, communities, and institutions of both countries.
The President of the National Council of the Macedonian National Minority Zorica Mitrović expressed gratitude for the continuous support and exceptionally good cooperation with the Assembly and the Provincial Government. She informed President Juhász about the upcoming ceremonial academy marking 80 years since the settlement of Macedonians in Vojvodina and announced that, by the end of the year, the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of North Macedonia, as well as 20 years of operation of the Macedonian Information and Publishing Centre, would also be commemorated.
