Bačka Topola, 23 June – President of the AP Vojvodina Assembly, dr Bálint Juhász, and President of the Provincial Government, Ms Maja Gojković, together with President of the Municipality of Bačka Topola, Mr Adrián Szatmári, officially opened the newly built indoor swimming pool “Venus” today. The investment, worth more than one billion dinars, was implemented with the support of the Provincial Government.

President Gojković stated that the modern swimming pool complex, opened in Bačka Topola, was a major capital project and one of the largest investments in sports infrastructure in the history of the municipality.

“This facility represents an investment in health, sport, education and the quality of life of our citizens. It is a place where children will learn to swim, athletes will achieve top results, and our citizens of all generations will be able to spend time engaging in recreation and an active lifestyle,” Ms Gojković said.

She emphasized that the construction of that modern sports and recreational centre was the result of joint efforts, cooperation and commitment of numerous institutions, experts and contractors.

“The total value of the works amounted to more than 1.27 billion dinars, secured from the budget of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, which clearly demonstrates the importance of this investment and our shared commitment to creating better living conditions for our citizens,” the President of the Provincial Government stated.

Ms Gojković expressed her satisfaction that, following the ceremonial ribbon-cutting, the newly opened swimming pool hosted an interschool swimming championship, the first official competition held at the facility.

Addressing the audience at the opening ceremony, President Juhász highlighted that the new swimming pool represented much more than a modern sports and recreational facility, as it was a symbol of the development and progress of Bačka Topola over the past decade.

“In recent years, Bačka Topola has seen a series of development investments that complemented one another and shared a common goal to provide citizens, especially young people, with more opportunities to stay here, receive education, engage in sports, build their community and plan their future,” President Juhász said.

He added that the facility was the result of long-term development planning and cooperation between all levels of government, stressing that its true value would be reflected through generations of children, athletes and families who would use it.

The project was implemented in two phases. The first phase, worth 508 million dinars, was financed from the budget of the Municipality of Bačka Topola, while in the second phase the Provincial Government provided 674 million dinars, with an additional 90 million dinars contributed by the local self-government.

Following the official opening, an interschool swimming championship for boys and girls was held, and medals and trophies were awarded to the most successful competitors. The guests then toured the newly built complex, which will in the future be available to athletes, recreational users and all citizens of Bačka Topola and the surrounding area.

The ceremony was also attended by Member of Parliament, Mr Bálint Pásztor, President of the National Council of the Hungarian National Minority, Árpád Fremond, representatives of provincial and local institutions, as well as numerous citizens.
