Subotica, 2nd September – President of AP Vojvodina Assembly Dr Bálint Juhász visited the “Majšanski put” Primary School in Subotica today, where a school traffic education training ground was reconstructed with nearly RSD 11.5 million from the provincial budget funds.
“For us, developing educational institutions is not just renovation of buildings. Behind every investment lies the same goal: to ensure that children study under safer, more modern and better conditions, and that education professionals have appropriate working conditions,” said Mr Juhász, who visited the school and the training ground, which had been reconstructed after almost 50 years, together with Róbert Ótott, vice-president of the Provincial Government and Provincial Secretary for Education, Regulations, Public Administration and National Minorities – National Communities, and Hajnalka Matin, Assistant Mayor of Subotica in charge of education, health and social protection.
The President Juhász pointed out that the importance of the investment in education estate was even greater given that the number of pupils at the “Majšanski put” Primary School had increased to 620 the school year, 20 more than previous year, while one additional class had also been formed.
“It is particularly encouraging that 84 pupils started first grade this new school year, in four classes, with two classes in the Serbian and two in the Hungarian languages of instruction. This shows that it’s important for the increase in the number of students to be accompanied by the delivery of better and safer conditions for their studying,” Mr President said.
As part of the 2025 call for investment projects, the Provincial Government allocated nearly RSD 11.5 million for the reconstruction of the school traffic education training ground. The works included the asphalting of more than 1,000 square metres of surface area, the renewal of horizontal road markings and the installation of 61 traffic signs. The training ground will also be used by pupils and students from other schools in Subotica. 
This investment is part of a broader, long-term process of investing in education. Between 2020 and 2026, nearly RSD 179 million was allocated from the provincial sources for the development of educational institutions in the territory of Subotica.
“During 2025 alone, we allocated RSD 500 million to improve conditions in 88 educational institutions across Vojvodina, while between 2016 and 2026, investments totalling nearly RSD 3.35 billion were made in around 400 educational institutions throughout the province,” Mr Juhász stated.
Assistant Mayor, Ms Matin, thanked the President Juhász and the Secretary Ótott for the Province’s continued support and investing in the modernisation of educational institutions in Subotica. She also emphasised measures aimed at supporting families and children, through which the local self-government assisted education, including free textbooks for primary school pupils, student scholarships and other forms of support.
During the visit, the President Juhász spoke with the school management about the conditions in which teaching took place, investments so far made, as well as the needs and priorities for further improvement of education estate and working conditions of pupils and education professionals.
