Senta / Novi Sad, 9 October – President of the AP Vojvodina Assembly, dr Juhász Bálint, today attended a ceremony marking the major milestone of the 150th anniversary of Senta Grammar School, one of the prominent educational institutions in this part of Vojvodina.

Congratulating the school’s teachers, students, alumni and all those who have helped shape its history over the decades, Juhász emphasised that the significance of an educational institution was measured not only by its students’ achievements, but also by the knowledge, character, friendships and sense of belonging to a community that they carry with them.

“The strength of a community endures through its institutions and institutions are sustained by people. Over the past 150 years, this school has lived through two world wars, periods when classes were not held in its building and a time when the Grammar School itself ceased to exist. Still, it emerged as a school again. Its greatest achievement is that there was always someone who said: this has to continue,” President Juhász stated.

He also noted that education evolved over time, keeping pace with developments in society and the wider world, while the fundamental role of a school remained unchanged: to broaden students’ horizons, provide them with a quality education and prepare them for the future.

“The world is changing, but the school’s most important task remains the same: to open a window to that world,” Juhász stressed. He wished Senta Grammar School continued success in educating new generations in the decades to come, preserving its traditions and remaining an important pillar of the local community.

The ceremony also featured addresses by Kálmán Róbert , Principal of Senta Grammar School; Jerasz Anikó, State Secretary at the Ministry of Education; Burány Hajnalka, President of the Municipality of Senta; and Varjú Potrebity Tatjana, a member of the National Council of the Hungarian National Minority.
