Subotica, 2 November– President of the AP Vojvodina Assembly, dr Juhász Bálint, attended today the traditional commemoration honoring the victims of 1944, held at the Senta Cemetery in Subotica.
The commemoration took place at the “Bird with Broken Wings” memorial and included a wreath-laying ceremony and an ecumenical service. The event was attended by representatives of religious and national communities, the City of Subotica, diplomatic missions, national councils, descendants of the victims, political parties and other organisations.
On behalf of the Provincial Government, a wreath was laid by Vice-President Tomislav Žigmanov.
The gathering paid tribute to the innocent victims of the tragic events of 1944 and 1945, conveying the message that remembering those who lost their lives and fostering a culture of remembrance are an important part of our responsibility towards future generations.
